The most glamorous of careers often hide many a sad story beneath. The winner of the USA and World championships in hurdle events, Lolo Jones has reached her current position after plenty of effort and immense amount of patience. Jones was the sole member of a family with five children, and grew up living in poverty. Her mother and she lived in a basement church and was constantly moving around. Jones was forced to move to another school every during her time in high school because of this nomadic existence. In Theodore Roosevelt High School Jones resided apart from her mother to pursue her interests in the track and field events. She lived at four different homes during her time in high school to ensure that she could study all in one location. Jones won an award called the Gatorade Iowa Track and Field Athlete of the Year award during her time at school. She also was a part of the school orchestra as cellist. Jones, when she went to college, was recognized as one of best hurdlers. In 2002, at the NCAA Track & Field Championship she took home the 100-meter hurdles. She also was part of the team that won the 100-meter relay. Jones has been the NCAA Champion indoor hurdles in both 2013 and 2003. Jones began her track career in 2005 after she graduated from university. In 2005, she was first in the Torino Memorial race, in 2006 she took in the Heusden and Ostrava racers.

Brandt was born in Auckland New Zealand after moving from Cape Town South Africa in the latter part of her the adolescent years. After being discovered by local casting directors, Brandt was cast in the role as Naevia in the Starz hit series Spartacus: Blood and Sand as well as Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Due to her partnership with Steven S. D Knight and Sam Raimi's producers, she was a breakout star. Lesley-Ann Brandt, a South African actress born in Cape town on 2nd of December 1981. She is a highly skilled New Zealand actor. Lesley Brandt moved with her entire New Zealand family to Auckland in the year 1999. In Auckland Brandt started out as an agent for sales, and later was made an expert in IT. Lesley began her modeling career before deciding to make an appearance in commercials. In 2008, she completed her studies and enrolled in Meisner techniques for studying. The first big acting role for Lesley was with New Zealand's TV show Diplomatic Immunity. Lesley Brandt is a supporting actor on the New Zealand television drama Shortland Street. Lesley Brandt was cast in the Television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand as Naevia who was a young hostage, and was later featured her character in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena mini-series.
